A quick note: after writing the last blog on Job. I received a few e-mails and a phone call about this not making sense and how they feel 500 steps behind everyone else.  If I can take a minute to say that everybody is at a different stage with God.  Some are to be drinking milk while others are chewing on steak.  Remember this is not about “checking off”  our list the reading for the day (although I am addicted and would not miss…lol) others may sporadically read the reading as the Lord prompts.

Some will read a whole book and get no indications that the Lord is speaking to them, others will put their face in the pillow and thank the Lord for the message they received ( I know one particular that made my cry with joy).

For new readers like myself, much won’t make sense, but maybe there is one or two versus that catch our eye…that was what He wanted us to notice.  Today I read in Gen 18:14 “Is anything too hard for the Lord” on the heals of saying in my head an our ago “That person will never change” Hmmm, did I get my daily bread today?  I think so! (sometimes I get it from a bumbper sticker)  But God wants us to read His bible sometimes just to understand His character, or to explain where we are in the timeline, or to show that this whole “thing”; we are living is all part of His great plan.  Not that we can fully understand it all, but that we can have a Hope.

P.S. Don’t forget to pray to your Holy Spirit before opening the Scripture each time.  Ask Him to help you make sense of them, to be personal, to reveal Himself in these Words.  We cannot do it without Him.

A perfect time to start

Friday we are going back to Genesis.  The reason we left was because the Book of Job occurred at the same time in Genesis, so we put it in between the two Genesis themes.  We only read Genesis for 3 days (an AWESOME 3 days).  If you  know someone that you wish you had asked to Read with you, or thought might enjoy reading through the Bible, this is a great time to start.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday they can read the 3 readings (the first 11 chapters) of Genesis, and on Friday be right wil us.    So look around, see if there is someone you wish was your “accountability” partner.  I know I need one! (You are all it)
